How many have watched the moon at a certain point and called it a full moon or a half-moon? Have you ever considered if this naming of the moon as a “half-moon” is correct or not? This kind of naming things is an underlying perception of who we are as human beings. This reveals that most of the time we call things by the way we perceive them without deliberate contemplation on the matter at hand. In other words, we sometimes don’t call people by what they really are but by how we perceive them. Before I get to the main point, I would like to suggest to you that it is not a “half-moon” but a half-lit moon.
What precisely am I endeavoring to say with all this? Beloved, my point is, the people will not always call you by what you genuinely are, but they will call you based on their perception of you. In most cases, the names people call you often reveal the unconscious perceptions they have towards you. Think back at the high school. What names did the bullies call you? What nicknames did your friends call you back then? So don’t take it personal when people call you all sorts of names. Don’t take it personal; this is how most humans behave.
The best thing to do just to preserve yourself from the hurt that emanates from bad name labelling is to discover what God calls you. Consider who God says you are than what humans say you are! Go to the word of God and ascertain who you are! Think about what he says you are! Meditate on the names God calls you until you feel confident. With this, you will not be going around trying to stop people from calling you names because what God calls you matters the most. It supersedes the ill-formed names people call you.
