In life we all have or had people we look up to, people we admire or people who inspire us to do more. But the truth is sometimes our role models do fail or don’t reach our expectations. In a situation like that it is so easy to begin to think and wonder if you will ever be able to go past the stumbling blocks that made them fail. For years David (the shepherd boy) had been blessed to have Saul as his role model. Saul was a great warrior. He was well respected among his people and by the neighboring nations. But when the time came for him to face Goliath, he could not stand against the giant. The opportunity availed itself, the king announced: “I will give great wealth to the man who kills Goliath…” When David heard of the opportunity he jumped to it!
